Bernard (Brian) Doherty has been qualified as a dental surgeon for over 31 years and has the unique distinction of practising both dentistry and general practice medicine. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and is a member of the Court of Examiners of the Royal College of Surgeons, where he is an examiner for the diploma of Membership in Oral Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons. He also examines for the diploma of Membership of the Joint Dental Faculties of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
Brian qualified in dental surgery from The Royal Dental Hospital, University of London in 1983, while at the Royal he won the Overseas Scholarship and a prize in Physiology for the highest mark in the exam, he then practised as a general dental surgeon and was the Senior Partner of an eight surgery dental practice group in 3 locations in North London, he later undertook further training at the prestigious Eastman Dental Hospital in London and became a specialist Oral Surgeon obtaining his MSc in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery from University College London in 1996.
He went on to study Medicine and qualified as a doctor in 2003 from St George’s Hospital, University of London where he was awarded a prize in Ophthalmology and a merit in his Medicine and Surgery final examinations, he was also short listed for the prize in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, he did his elective with the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service in London.
After medical graduation Brian undertook general surgical training at Barnet Hospital, and maxillofacial training at the Royal London Hospital and Northwick Park Hospital and then decided to add another string to his bow by training in general medical practice qualifying as a Medical GP in 2010, he is also a Member of the Royal College of General Practitioners.
Brian has a broad experience in Oral & Dental surgery and general medicine. His areas of specialist clinical interests are oral surgery, including wisdom teeth removal and dental implantology including maxillary sinus lifts and bone grafting, he has been successfully placing dental implants for over 22 years.
Brian has a special interest in aesthetic medicine and uses botox and dermal fillers to improve his patients’ appearance.
Brian also has his Private Practice in Hendon, North London where he treats both private medical and dental patients.
